Nestled in the heart of Schuylkill County, Pottsville is a city built on grit, history, and pride. Known as the home of Yuengling Brewery—America’s oldest brewery—Pottsville blends rich industrial roots with a strong sense of community. Its streets are lined with historic architecture, anchored by landmarks like the Schuylkill County Courthouse, while the surrounding mountains give the city a rugged, hardworking character. Pottsville isn’t just a place—it’s a tight-knit community where tradition runs deep and neighbors look out for one another.
At the center of that community stands the Pottsville Fire Company—an organization built on dedication, brotherhood, and an unwavering commitment to service. Formed in 2025 through the merger of the Humane Fire Company and the Phoenix Fire Company, the organization represents a unified future built on a proud and historic past. By bringing together two long-standing companies, Pottsville Fire Company strengthened its ability to serve the city while honoring generations of tradition and sacrifice.
Proudly protecting the city and its residents, the fire company represents the very best of volunteerism and public safety. From its iconic downtown station, members respond to emergencies, support public events, and serve as a constant presence of reliability when it matters most.
The company operates a versatile and dependable fleet that reflects both its operational strength and its deep respect for tradition. This includes Truck 21, Wagon 32, and Engine 33—frontline apparatus ready to handle everything from structure fires to complex incidents. Supporting operations are Utility 34 and UTV 68-3, providing flexibility for specialized responses and community needs. Alongside these modern units, the company proudly preserves its history with a 1953 antique fire engine, a reminder of the generations of firefighters who paved the way.
But the Pottsville Fire Company is more than just apparatus and emergency response—it’s a family. With opportunities ranging from active firefighting and fire police to scene support, administration, and fundraising, it offers a place for anyone willing to step up and serve. Its members train hard, work together, and take pride in their role as protectors of the community.
Rooted in tradition yet always moving forward, the Pottsville Fire Company embodies the spirit of the city it serves—strong, resilient, and always ready.
